On April 30th 2019, Big Image Australia launched its new facility, and unveiled it’s new equipment, to more than 60 wonderful clients, suppliers, special guests, friends, and media.

The night featured several big announcements, some years in the making, that will take not only our business, but also your’s, to the next level.

Firstly, our location has changed! We are now located in a purpose fit commercial facility at 85 Orsmond Street in Hindmarsh. You might be thinking we haven’t moved far, and you’re right. However, although only a couple of doors down, the new space allows us to accommodate our new equipment and streamline our workflow, getting your jobs out quicker than ever. It was designed from the ground up to suit our processes, not the other way around, so we can now handle more work, more efficiently. It’s something that took a lot of planning, but we’ve pulled it off and are excited to put into practice our expanded capabilities in this new, state of the art location.

Next up, we unveiled an Australian first – the Gerber MCT Flatbed Cutter. This incredible new machine allows us to complete amazingly complex cuts, creases, folds and joins accurately and fast, in virtually any substrate.

Our Operations Director, Deon Capogreco, spent a week hands on training in the United States earlier this year, before the 3.2m x 3.2m bed cutter was shipped to Australia from the USA. On hand to assist the unveiling was Gerber Technology Director Mark S. Bibo, who flew out specially for the announcement from Tolland, Connecticut.

A special demonstration showing the impressive capabilities was held, with guests having the opportunity to go into the draw to get a life-size cutout of themselves photographed, printed, cut out and finished on the spot, in front of everyone’s eyes, done live, to take home on the night. The impressive Gerber machine did its part, cutting the complex shape in the composite sheet, in just 57secs.

The investment in this highly automated and productive Gerber MCT wide-
format digital finishing system from US giant Gerber, represents a dramatic step forward for our 20-year-old Adelaide company.

Finally, our recently commissioned website and online ordering platform went live. Over the coming weeks, we will be rolling out logins to all of our customers who will now be able to streamline their ordering, using a simple automated online process for quoting and order placement. With your login, get on the spot quotes, order jobs and upload files directly. The website itself highlights our stunning and unique capabilities and shows you what you can offer to your customers. If you are yet to receive your login details and want to skip the queue, get in touch with us directly via email. (Hyperlink email to (mailto:prints@bigimageaustralia.com.au)
